Problem
Small businesses need more than a storefront to sell online. They must configure their brand, maintain catalogs and inventory, process orders, accept payments, and understand sales performance. Building and maintaining each of those capabilities separately introduces cost and operational complexity.
CartMor was conceived as a unified commerce platform in which merchants can create their own stores without needing to commission or operate a separate software system. The engineering challenge was to support multiple merchant storefronts while keeping each store's products, customers, orders, settings and billing organized in a shared SaaS platform.
Approach
Multi-tenant commerce architecture. CartMor is a custom PHP 8 MVC application backed by MySQL/MariaDB. Controllers, models, services and middleware separate HTTP handling, data access, business logic and cross-cutting controls. The product defines distinct super-admin, merchant and customer experiences, with storefront routing by path, subdomain or custom domain.
Self-service merchant onboarding. A multi-step onboarding flow lets merchants create an account, name a store, select a template and brand colors, and provision a storefront at a store-specific URL. It includes a 14-day trial and Paystack-based paid-plan checkout.
Configurable storefronts. Five templates—Bold Modern, CampMart Style, Classic Ecommerce, Minimal Clean and Premium Luxury—cover ten storefront page types each. Merchants can configure logos, brand colors, typography, layouts, navigation, social links and other presentation details.
Day-to-day commerce operations. The platform covers product CRUD, categories, inventory, Cloudinary-hosted images, CSV imports and exports, customer accounts, shopping carts, guest checkout, and order processing. Payment options include cash on delivery, bank transfer and Paystack.
Installments and recurring billing. The installment module supports merchant-defined down payments, schedules and overdue reminders. Platform subscriptions include trials, paid-plan checkout, webhook-based lifecycle management and administrative controls.
Operational visibility and safeguards. Merchant dashboards provide order and revenue visualizations, product insights and recent activity; a super-admin interface supports oversight across stores. Safeguards include JWT authentication, token revocation, device fingerprinting, bcrypt password hashing, rate limiting, CORS controls, security event logs and Sentry monitoring. Notifications are delivered in-app and through an email queue.
Stack
The platform uses PHP 8+ with a custom MVC architecture, MySQL/MariaDB, PDO and Composer on the backend, alongside vanilla JavaScript, Tailwind CSS, the Fetch API and Chart.js on the frontend. Paystack handles payments, Cloudinary product media, PHPMailer email, JWT authentication and Sentry error monitoring.
Result
ProDevX delivered CartMor as a live client platform in March 2026, bringing storefront creation, catalog management, checkout, billing, analytics and platform administration into one multi-tenant software product. Its merchant-facing experience is designed to reduce the need for individual businesses to build separate e-commerce systems.
The live implementation includes five reusable storefront templates, distinct user roles and an integrated commerce workflow.
